Educational Program in Denmark focused on DKA and Sepsis

Recently, Peter Smulowitz, MD, Attending Physician, Department of Emergency Medicine, BIDMC, traveled to Region Sjaelland in Denmark to conduct a visiting professor program focused on the management of DKA and sepsis in emergency patients. US and Danish physicians also discussed methods for reducing cost in the emergency department. A second educational track was led by a BIDMC emergency medicine nurse leader who focused his discussions on sepsis, emergency nursing education through in-situ simulation, and the role of the coordinating nurse / management best practices. It was a pleasure to visit our colleagues and share ideas regarding these important emergency medicine operational and clinical topics.
