Region Sjaelland Emergency Nurse Education Program Launches

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]An HMFP nurse consulting team is currently in Region Sjaelland, Denmark working with four partner hospitals (Koge, Nykobing Falster, Holbaek, and Slagelse) on the launch of a novel and collaborative emergency nurse education program. This program, grounded in AACN’s Synergy Model, uses skills stations, taught during “nurse competency days,” to review and validate emergency nurse skills. In the first year, 34 competencies and assessments will be validated through 5 themed skills stations, taught during competency days scheduled at each hospital. All 290 regional nurses will be trained this year in skills relating to trauma, cardiac emergencies, hypothermia emergencies, respiratory emergencies and medical administration and customer service. Shelley Calder, RN, MSN, CEN, Emergency Department Program Director for Ambulatory & Emergency Nursing Education, has led this nursing education collaboration project from conception to launch.Emergency nurses demonstrate their skills with the Level 1 Rapid InfuserEmergency nurse participants demonstrate essential cardiac emergency skills during the first regional competency day[/vc_column_text][ultimate_spacer height="10"][/vc_column][/vc_row]
