Dr. Schafer is currently the emergency ultrasound fellowship director at BIDMC. He has been a part of the emergency medicine faculty in the division of emergency ultrasound at BIDMC for the last four years. Dr. Schafer graduated from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in 2011 and completed a residency in emergency medicine at Boston Medical Center in 2015. He completed his emergency ultrasound fellowship at BIDMC in 2016. He has an interest in global emergency medicine and the use of ultrasound in resource-limited settings. He also has an interest in ultrasound for trauma, resuscitation, and quality improvement as it relates to ultrasound workflow solutions. He is actively involved in ultrasound education with the Massachusetts chapter of the ACEP education committee. Dr. Schafer is a member of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine and the Academy of Emergency Ultrasound.
