ED Throughput Solutions

Many Emergency Departments are challenged by crowding, a lack of space, and limited resources. Successful departments and leaders use a myriad of strategies to mitigate the effects of these barriers. Our faculty will help you develop programs to move patients efficiently through their ED stay with the goal of reducing left-without-being-seen (LWBS) rates, door-to-doctor times and overall length of ED stay. These strategies include:

• Emergency Department observation

• Fast-track and vertical flow

• Rapid medical evaluation and/or Provider-in-triage

• Telemedicine triage

• Pull-to-full triage, direct patient bedding, and bedside registration

• Nursing triage protocols

• Development of care-standardization pathways

• Electronic admission signout
