Disaster Medicine & Disaster Planning
Due to the relative infrequency of major disasters, most health systems are not prepared to handle a disaster from an emergency medicine standpoint. This under preparedness often leads to an inadequate allocation of resources to meet the emergency medicine challenges of a disaster. The key to a successful disaster plan is ensuring that every member of your ED is properly trained and responsive in a disaster scenario. Our faculty has worked in over 30 countries around the world to implement best practices in emergency preparedness, to include courses on Hospital Emergency Management, Mass Casualty Management, Crisis Leadership, Counter-Terrorism Medicine, and CBRNe Preparedness.
