Dr. Larry A. Nathanson specializes in clinical computing and ED informatics and is the designer of the ED Dashboard application. Dr. Nathanson completed a residency in Emergency Medicine at the Medical College of Pennsylvania and a research fellowship in clinical computing at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Nathanson is an attending emergency physician at BIDMC where he also serves as the director of emergency medical informatics.

Every emergency visit is associated with a large amount of data that must be accurately and efficiently collected, interpreted, and communicated in order to provide safe and efficient patient care. Dr. Nathanson’s career has been focused on creating computerized solutions to this end. He is the architect and developer of the application “ED Dashboard,” a software program that integrates data from the ED and other hospital departments in order to give clinicians the ability to better communicate, monitor the department, improve patient safety and streamline the delivery of emergency care. This technology and the positive effect it has on patient care have been featured on CNN, in Newsweek and in other national publications. Dr. Nathanson has been programming for more than 20 years and possesses a bachelor’s degree in computer medical science from Boston University. Dr. Nathanson is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Harvard Medical School.
